Karen Courtright 
Director of Research
Karen Courtright is the director of research at Slack and Company, and with over 20 years of experience in research, she is definitely an insight geek. Karen has excellent listening and synthesis skills, and can uncover the deeper meaning from research participants in any setting. Armed with this knowledge, Karen is an important contributor to strategy development for the agency’s clients.
Karen began her career in the food industry, logging 15 years in consumer packaged goods with stints at Wrigley and Kraft. She was tutored in research methodologies by deeply experienced statisticians, and honed her skills in multivariate statistical techniques doing category analyses of product, sensory and consumer data for brands such as Kraft Parmesan Cheese and Kraft Natural Cheeses. She also received training for and became a moderator during this time.
Since coming to the integrated marketing world, Karen has served clients in a variety of industries, many in science, technology and industrial markets. Her recent research clients include Aon, National Starch Food Innovation, Underwriters Laboratories, Research in Motion, and Siemens Building Technologies; past clients in medical diagnostics include Abbott Laboratories, Siemens Medical, Agfa Radiology, Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics and Quick Study Radiology.
Karen received her M.S. in food science from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and her B.S., with distinction, from the University of Minnesota, where she also minored in marketing research.
